Help Us Build a Fairer Future for Housing

Are you passionate about affordable, community-led housing? Do you believe that homes should be owned and shaped by the people who live in them? Leeds Community Homes is looking for new board members to help guide our next chapter — and we’re especially keen to hear from people with backgrounds and experiences that are underrepresented in housing and governance.

What We’re Looking For

We want a board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. You don’t need prior board experience — we value fresh perspectives just as much as formal qualifications. We encourage applications from people of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and socio-economic backgrounds.
We are especially interested in hearing from people with experience or interest in:

  • Community organising or grassroots activism
  • Social or cooperative/ community housing
  • Finance, legal, or governance knowledge
  • Sustainability or green construction
  • Working with marginalised communities
  • Lived experience of housing need or instability

What You’ll Do

As a board member, you’ll help shape our strategic direction, hold the organisation to account, and make key decisions about our projects. You’ll work alongside a friendly, committed team who care deeply about creating a fairer, more inclusive Leeds.

Time Commitment

Around 4-6 board meetings per year, plus optional involvement in working groups or specific projects. We do need Board members to be able to commit to preparing for and attending meetings wherever possible.  Our Board meetings are generally held Quarterly on a Tuesday 4pm and usually held online.

Remittance

The position is voluntary. Reasonable travel expenses may be chargeable  if applicable.
