Where will our first #peoplepoweredhomes be?

Over the next couple of months we’ll aim to answer questions that people have asked us – on social media, at events we’ve attended etc.  If you have a question, please get in touch and we’ll answer it on here.

It’s important, if you’re considering investing, that you don’t rely on information we share in these blogposts. If you’re considering investing, please visit either our Ethex profile, or the share offer page on our website.  There you will find detailed information on the share offer, our plans, our more detailed business plan, and the Rules of Leeds Community Homes.  And of course, if you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

We’ve got ambitions over the next ten years to be involved in creating 1000 affordable homes in Leeds.  We’re starting with a project to create sixteen homes on a development in the newly formed Climate Innovation District, by Leeds-based developer Citu.

We are working alongside Citu as their affordable housing partner on the development – and the homes are available to us to purchase at a significant discount.  More detail is available in the share offer document and business plan – and we’ll also explain more in a future blogpost.

The development is approximately where the red line is on the map below – just beyond the Royal Armouries.

The red line shows the approximate location of the development where Leeds Community Homes will have 16 flats.

The site is part of an area that is being referred to as South Bank.  Leeds City Council are currently consulting on the future development of the area – you can find out more and give your views as part of the consultation exercise here.  We see a lot of potential in the area, and are keen to do what we can to create more affordable housing in the area over the next few years.

The first flats are due to be occupied in early 2018.  Here’s what the site looks like now.  We’re excited to think that if we can raise the money that we need, people could be living in homes that we own in just over a year’s time.
